Windstorm Issues – 11/29-30/22

Last night during the windstorm, power was lost on Saturna Island affecting our broadcasters that serve Pender Island, eastern Saturna Island, and parts of northern Orcas.  The local power company estimates that the power will be restored by 10 am today.

On Orcas, one of our backhaul radios in Eastsound was blown out of alignment, causing throughput loss to customers across central Orcas.  Our backup radio is currently sustaining the backhaul, and our techs plan to realign the other radio later this morning.

Power Outage on Lummi – 11/17/22 – RESOLVED

Power has been restored to our broadcast sites on Lummi and our network has resumed normal operations.  If you are still experience an outage, please contact our office at 360-376-4124.

Power Outage on Lummi – 11/17/22 – UPDATE

Power has gone out for our broadcasters on Lummi Island.  The power provider is still estimating a 1 pm restoration time, so we are confident that service should be restored by then.  All connections should resume their normal operation once the power is turned back on, and we are monitoring this link to ensure that everything comes back up.

Power Outage on Lummi – 11/17/22

Strong winds have caused a power outage on Lummi Island, which my affect our broadcasters that serve parts of northern Orcas Island.  At this point onsite backup power is supplying our radios; but if the outage extends through the morning the power may fail.  Power providers estimate a restoration time of 1 pm.

Electrical Upgrade on Saturna – 11/14/22

Onsite electrical work at one of our broadcaster locations that serves a part of Saturna Island has taken our radio down.  The work is expected to be completed by 3 pm, at which time all network connections should resume normally.

Electrical Maintenance on Saturna – 11/10/22

Onsite electrical work at our main broadcast site on Saturna will cause the connection to drop twice, momentarily, as it is moved to and from battery backup power.  These two interruptions should only last a few minutes each and will occur between 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm.

Radio re-alignment in Rosario – 11/9/22

We’ve encountered a software issue during a radio re-alignment in the Rosario area.  This is causing the connection to several of our customers to go up and down repeatedly.  We are currently addressing the issue and expect to have completed the work by 3:30 pm.

Power Work on Saturna – 10/27/22

Onsite electrical work at one of our broadcast sites on Saturna Island that serves parts of Waldron and Orcas Island has temporarily disabled our radios.  The work is expected to last for about 20 minutes, after which the connection will resume at normal levels.

Backhaul Disruption – 10/25/22

Two of our main transmission links on Orcas are experiencing capacity drops during the severe rain showers we’ve been seeing lately.  We have backup links in place for both locations that have been capable of handling most of the load when the primary links fail.  At this point were are evaluating the proper procedure for such instances in regards to the primary link, and are working to optimize the backup links to decrease customer downtime and improve backup link capacity.
