Power Outage 20210208 0922

Power was lost on Orcas and Shaw Island this morning.  OPALCO has identified the cause as a tree on the lines and is working to restore power.  Some systems have already been restored and we are waiting for power to return to our Access Points serving Lummi Island, Blakely Island, the west side, and sections of Eastsound and North Beach.

UPDATE: Our Access Point that serves the Rosario area has lost power.  OPALCO predicts a full restoration time of less than four hours for the Orcas network.

Connection Loss for Blakely and Southern Orcas 20210128 1537

As of the early morning hours of Tuesday the 26th we noticed a measurable drop in performance on our main link from Orcas to Blakely Island, which in turn provides additional feeds to southern Orcas.  This drop continued until the link became non-functional.  At this time we are working to keep the link at sufficient capacity for customers to utilize email and browse web pages.  Our work is still ongoing and we plan to have our technicians address the links onsite on Friday or Saturday to restore them to full operating capacity.

Please notify our office at 360-376-4124 or email us at support@orcasonline.com if your connection has not resumed after the power restoration.

Outage Update – Jan 13, 2021 – 1630

At this time there is no estimated restoration from Puget Sound Energy.  We anticipate that this outage may run into tomorrow, and in order to conserve operational ability and prevent possible damage to equipment, we are planning to shutdown our power generators at 10:30pm.  This will shutdown our equipment until power resumes, or until 7 am tomorrow morning when we will restart the generator.

Thank you for your patience as we eagerly await the return of our full system operation.
