Connection Disruptions on Orcas Island – RESOLVED – 6/21/22
Reseating the cables at the affected Orcas broadcast point has restored normal connectivity to affected customers. After observing the connection over the previous day we did not see a reoccurrence of any of the issues that had started over the weekend.
Connection Disruptions on Orcas Island – 6/20/22
Over the weekend we saw several of our smaller networks suffer capacity drops that affected their overall performance. After some diagnoses and maintenance work earlier today the connections appear to have stabilized.
Several of our connections in the greater Eastsound area and on the isthmus of Orcas Island are having performance issues that we have traced to a backbone link that feeds their network from our office. We are currently diagnosing the issue and if we are unable to restore it remotely we will have a technician go to the site on Tuesday the 21st.

Our alternate link has proven stable and effective. We are no longer suffering capacity drops on the previously affected backbone link.

We have setup an alternate radio link to take over for the affected connection. The link is now in operation and passing traffic; and we will be monitoring it throughout the night. If its performance matches our requirements then it will become our primary link.

Some improvement has been noted on our affected backbone link, but we are still observing sporadic periods of lowered capacity. We have requested help from the radio’s manufacturer in diagnosing the issue and are currently reviewing performance data with them.

We have observed a somewhat increased level of reliability in our new devices, but the link has not proved completely stable. We are continuing our troubleshooting of the backbone link.

We swapped out some equipment along the connection and the link appears to have stabilized. We are currently monitoring the connection.

One of our primary backbone links that supplies bandwidth to Lummi Island, Saturna Island, and parts of northern and central Orcas has stopped reliably passing traffic. Our technicians are currently attempting to restore the link.

Power has been restored to Pender Island, and all of our connections have come back online.
